A surprise party was held
for Ossie on, aptly some would say, April Fools Day, 1st April.
This was to celebrate 50 years in scouting and his 40 years service
as a Scouter to Istmar.
The Scouters told Ossie that
the day was going to be a Fun Day for the Beavers and Cubs and told
Ossie not to arrive until 3pm to set things up. However true to
form Ossie turned up early to find everybody putting up 40 year
congratulations balloons and banners.
An invite to his own party
was given to him and I think at last the scouters actually saw Ossie
blush!! The weather held out and
many old members and friends from Istmar arrived to give Ossie their
congratulations, as well as current Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. A bouncy castle was there
to entertain the children and a barbeque was kept well stoked by
the Scouters as well as a good flow of tea, coffee and soft drinks.
A lovely congratulatory cake
was made for Ossie and he received his 40 years service certificate
from the DC, Robin Corti.
In all a good day was had
by all and everyone that attended showed their appreciation to Ossie
for such loyal service to Istmar throughout his forty years service.
